Xmas Meetup:

Following on from brief posts and conversations here and there, there seems to be a swell of enthusiasm for a pre xmas meetup. Sounds like a bloody good idea to me! ;)

So, let's start organizing and we'll have enough time to really promote this one to everyone...

The Black Lion was a nice venue. Better than Grand Central I think. Any other ideas? Also, dates-wise, how about the Thur 18th Dec? That's one week before xmas itself and possibly before a lot of people disperse to family etc. What do you all reckon?

meetup
it was very good. perhaps some of the other 200 bloggers in this town want to come too, but are unaware of the group?

Sounds good...
I'll update the site to reflect those details :-)

Now we just have to make sure that everyone knows about it!

yes - maybe some advertising in the source would do the trick?

Bugger
Fraid I won't be able to make it as I'm off to see Chungking play that night.

On the subject of letting people know about the meet-ups, how about a newsletter?

Also what do people think about this?

xmas
hello again. I came to the first meeting and would like to pop in to the Christmas meetup but already have two parties that day (xmas lunch at work followed by Pier Playwrights xmas bash.) The Black Lion is vaguely en route between the two so it's just possible the timings might coincide. If so, I'll certainly pop in to say hello again (but might not remember having done so). Meanwhile, I'd just like to say that I had always envisaged this blog as being somewhere to discuss or link to Brighton-related stuff and in that vein, I'd like to direct Brighton bloggers to a rant about Brighton that I've just posted today. All I ask is that you read it and let it open your eyes to another Brighton, one where you're not very welcome and there isn't a place for you if you sit in a wheelchair and have high support needs. Today I'm feeling particularly pissed off about all this, as it affects one of my sons and therefore my whole family. I promise I'll have calmed down by the Xmas meetup.

post script
Oops. Never a good idea to blog, post messages etc after being out with friends and a few bottles of wine. I'll shut up now. Happy Christmas.

Spreading the word
I wonder if we could get a small notice in the local press for one of the blog get-togethers in the new year (thisisbrighton magazine, for example). That might help spread the word. It'd need to be a very slow news day/week/month :-) But it has all the right elements to get some coverage.
