A decision seems to have been made *drum roll please*

The next meetup will be Thursday 2nd October at Riki Tik, kicking off at around 7pm

Then, the first Thursday in the month for as long as people are interested. I've updated the rest of the site to show this date as the next meetup...

Friday, September 19, 2003

Ok, next meet?

I propose Riki Tik on the last Thursday. Unless people need to go to the Wired Sussex event. Is there one?

So that's Thursday 25th, 7pm...

Maybe a simple vote below?

See you there :)

UPDATE:
Voting has been whittled down to 2 days... Vote for either Oct 2nd or Sept 25th.

Sounds Good
Thursday 25th sounds good to me. I think Riki Tik would be a good venue
too.

Meet up
How about the first thursday in Oct. The 2nd?
// posted by Andy Budd @ 2003-09-22 13:26:28

Either is fine
No problem with either date, we started discussing the 2nd of October earlier in the month so we could say it would be always the first thursday in the month.

October's fine too
October 2nd would be fine with me. I guess it would be good if it always the first Thursday of every month.
// posted by Jeremy Keith @ 2003-09-22 13:37:39

Yup
First Thursday is fine here too...

When shall we close the votes and mail the BB list?

Dates and list
Either is fine.

Can whoever is admin on the list accept me? I signed up and got the auto-confirm, but I'm still waiting for the human admin to accept me.

Quite a few Brighton Bloggers are already on the GeoURL list for Brighton. GeoURL provides a list of URLs for a given location (longitude, latitude). To find your longitude and latitude, go to Streetmap, put in your post code, then scan for the "Click here to convert/measure coordinates" link.

Entertainingly, london.localfeeds.com seems to be using GeoURL data to peg Brighton weblogs as being "near London".

Might be good to get Brighton added to the site. Or to get some independent RSS aggregation running somewhere on brightonbloggers.com?

Thanks for sorting this out Jane. This'll be perfect for organizing new events etc.

So, a bit late (thanks to NTL and their *wonderful* service - not) but thanks to everyone who made it down to the first event last week. I was sorry to hear about a few who were stuck in London because of the power cuts etc - hopefully you can make it down for the next one...

On the night itself, I was wondering if we would be able to sustain a monthly meeting... I did think that maybe once every three months would be more suitable, but strangly I'm missing you all already and I'm thinking maybe we should just set a monthly date/time/place and just see who turns up? What does everyone else think? Maybe something like the last Thursday of every month - 7pm at Grand Central. Just an idea...

Last Thursday in the month
Wired Sussex have their networking evenings on the last Thursday in the month. Are we likely to lose people to those events?
// posted by Jane @ 2003-09-04 09:10:00

last thursday
not this person...

but, recent discussions with ws indicated that they were ceasing the events and planning something new - whether that will be on the same night or not I don't know...

I guess it's a good point though...

How about the first Thursday of the month?
// posted by Pete Barr-watson @ 2003-09-05 11:18:32

first thursday?
For what it's worth, first thursday is good by me (especially as I missed the first meet)

I reckon a monthly meet up is about right. It's not as if we *need* loads of people of to turn up each time.

Thursdays are generally ok for me and I think that monthly would be great.

The number of new media/geek social things has really tailed off over the past few months and has reduced down to the Wired Sussex <spit> networking things and thats about it so the more meetups the better I say.

Thursday 2nd October
Shall we go with Thursday 2nd October then? Quick show of hands please... then I'll update the site to reflect that :-)

Okay, so as this is the Brighton Bloggers site, it seemed sensible to have a Brighton Bloggers blog.

It is using Blogger, and to contribute just let me know and I'll send you an email invitation to join.

It is up to us whether we want to use this as a community blog, or just as a means to organise the next meetup.

Thanks you for your Blog! ;)
